sto|rax «STR aks, STOHR-», noun.
1. a solid resin resembling benzoin, with an odor like that of vanilla, obtained from a small styracaceous tree of Asia Minor and Syria, formerly used in medicine and perfume.
2. the tree itself.
3. any other tree or shrub of the same group, found chiefly in warm regions of Asia and America, such as the species from which benzoin is obtained.
4. a fragrant gum resin or balsam obtained from various species of liquidambar, especially the inner bark, used in medicine and perfumery.
